A meticulously crafted military training globe, likely sold by 'A. J. Nystrom / Maps Globes Charts Models' during the Korean War or later. The hollow steel sphere outlines continents, oceans, latitude, and longitude numbers, but lacks geographical names. A stainless steel ferule and clamp secure the sphere to a painted steel, three-tiered base with casters via a telescoping solid steel rod within a metal tube. The height adjusts from 53 to 69 inches based on rod extension, fixed by a set screw. The sphere's size is unique, yet the entire piece adheres to U.S. government specifications for naval or air force navigational training. It bears minor surface scrapes and a small dent, but remains an impressive floor globe.
