This gorgeous Spruce makes a very formal pyramid shaped evergreen tree. Picea purpurea has very dark green needles with light silver tint on the undersides. The needles are very short and grow closely to the stems. This species is very popular in Europe and Canada and it is just now gaining popularity in the US. The violet-purple cones are stunning in spring. They are especially vibrant against the Dark green needles.
